 IL POTERE DI ZAHHAK

Lo spettacolo è una messa in scena, in chiave moderna, del teatro tradizionale dei cantastorie iraniani con una delle leggende più importanti del “Libro dei Re” di Ferdousi. Il “Libro dei Re” (Shah Namah – 1010 d.c.) è senza dubbio l’opera più importante della letteratura antica persiana, e in Iran non troverete persona, né tra gli intellettuali né tra la gente comune , che non lo conosca. La ragione di questa diffusione a 360 gradi dell’opera di Ferdousi non è che tutti gli iraniani hanno studiato il “Libro dei Re”, ma si deve alla trasmissione orale dei cantastorie, che portano nei bar tradizionali i classici della letteratura persiana, recitandoli in modo semplice e diretto. Ogni cantastorie ha un suo modo particolare di recitare. Alcuni parlano semplicemente, altri usano strumenti come oggetti o dipinti. Ma i cantastorie fanno un teatro tradizionale povero, senza mezzi tecnologici come luci, musica amplificata o scenografie complicate, e questa è una delle ragioni per cui vengono accettati da tutti. La storia che presentiamo è di estrema attualità pur essendo antichissima, e parla del potere nelle sue forme più violente e oscure. E’ la storia di Zahhak, antico re con due serpenti sulle spalle che si nutrono di sangue umano, ma anche di Freydun che insieme a Kaveh il fabbro guida la rivolta contro l’ingiustizia. Il potere, a cui abbiamo dato forma con le nostre paure e insicurezze, finirà per divorarci, a meno che non riacquistiamo la capacità di ragionare autonomamente e di opporci.

Personaggi:

Zahhak: personaggio mitico delle leggende mediorientali, la sua origine non è chiara e si perde nella notte dei tempi… Incarna il potere nelle sue forme più brutali, o anche la capacità del potere di trasformare gli esseri umani. Dopo essere stato corrotto dal diavolo gli crescono due serpenti dalle spalle che si nutrono di sangue umano. Uccide il padre prima e poi il Re, impossessandosi del trono. E’ un essere sofferente e terribile.

Freydun: è l’eroe predestinato a sconfiggere Zahhak, che lo sogna prima che sia nato e per questo lo cerca per ucciderlo. Guida la rivolta e incatena Zahhak al monte Damavand.

Kaveh: il fabbro che per primo si ribella a Zahhak.

Faranak: madre di Freydun. Con coraggio e determinazione sottrae il figlio alla furia di Zahhak.

Abtin: padre di Freydun, viene ucciso da Zahhak che lo dà in pasto ai suoi serpenti.

Mirdas: padre di Zahhak, proprietario terriero generoso con il popolo che viene ucciso dal figlio su consiglio del diavolo.

Jamshid: antico Re dell’Iran che diventa superbo e offre l’occasione a Zahhak per spodestarlo.

Birmayeh: animale mitico che simboleggia la natura e la sua generosità, alleva Freydun e per questo viene ucciso da Zahhak.

Simboli e oggetti:

Nello spettacolo troverete diversi riferimenti alla tradizione Persiana e ai cantastorie: il bastone, tipico strumento di scena che diventa a seconda delle esigenze spada, cavallo, albero ecc.; il tessuto rosso, che viene usato come indumento nelle saune e nelle palestre dove si pratica lo Zourkanè (sport antichissimo legato all’epica Persiana); la poesia cantata e il vestito verde tipici dei cantastorie…

Il videoproiettore dovrà essere appeso o in retroproiezione in modo da evitare che la proiezione impalli o disturbi l’attrice in scena, le luci dovranno essere posizionate in modo da non interessare la superfice di videoproiezione

 The Power Of Zahhak”

The performance  is staged, in a modern key, of the theatre of traditional Iranian storyteller with a more important legends of the “Book of the King” of Ferdousi. The “Book of the King” (Shah Namah – 1010 A. D.) is probably the more important work of the ancient Persian literature, and in Iran you will not find person, nor between intellectuals or between the common people, which do not know it. The reason for this spread to 360 degrees work of Ferdousi is not that all the Iranians have studied the “Book of the king”, but it is the oral transmission of storyteller, playing in the traditional bars the classics of Persian literature.

The history that we present is extremely modern although ancient, and speaks of power in its forms more violent and obscure. This is the story of Zahhak, an ancient king with two snakes on the shoulders that feed on human blood, but also of Freydun that together with the Locksmiths Kaveh guide the revolt against injustice. The power, to which we gave form to our fears and insecurities, will eat us, unless we the ability to think independently and to oppose. We have decided to replace the use of traditional painting with the modern language of video to make the show more dynamic, avoiding the time in which the storyteller stops to drink tea and a chat with the public, and we made subtitle the show that is in Persian language, poetic in its original form. 

 technics requirements:

– n°1 video-projector 3000 ansi/lumen or more, with video cable ( 30 meters of coaxial analogic cable BNC or RCA), hang on the top or in rear projection mode (it depend from the space on the stage), without power-save

– n°1 white screen, or if the space it’s enough a rear projection screen ( in central position, on the back part of the stage, and the projection beam must’nt go on the actress)

– n°1 DVD player with stop, pause, play and skip commands, without power-save

– better also one video mixer

– n°1 audio mixer whit amplificatory and two speaker 300 watts each or more

– n°2 theater spots 1000 watts, whit mixer (the light must exclude the screen of projection)
